I wanted to open up about something I recently discovered. It turns out I’ve been dealing with what they call ‘high-functioning anxiety’ or more commonly known as ‘stress` 🧠💭
It’s a peculiar state where you carry on with your everyday life, appearing perfectly normal on the surface. You might not even consciously acknowledge that you’re stressed, but deep down, your body is feeling the pressure. 🤯
Common signs of burnout for which I pretty much had them all and just accepted them as ‘the norm’:
- Feeling tired or drained most of the time
- Feeling helpless, trapped and/or defeated
- Feeling detached/alone in the world
- Having a cynical/negative outlook
- Self-doubt
- Procrastinating and taking longer to get things done
- Feeling overwhelmed
The good news is, I’m in a much better place now. I’ve either resolved the issues that were eating at me or found healthier ways to cope.
My heartfelt advice to all of you is to listen to your body. 🚶♂️🚶♀️ It’s an incredible communicator and will often give you subtle hints when something isn’t right. 🚨
Also, remember to check in on your loved ones from time to time. 📞
Be honest with yourself about what’s genuinely on your plate. When someone asks if you’re ‘fine’ or ‘okay,’ take a moment to reflect. Are you truly okay? It’s okay not to be okay sometimes. 💙
